Catherine Walter
Catherine Walter is an experienced teacher, researcher, and materials writer. She has taught English in France, the UK, and the USA, and has worked with teachers in Europe, the Americas, and the Pacific Rim. She is now a Lecturer at the Department of Education, University of Oxford.
Catherine is the course leader for the Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching English Language in University Settings, and also teaches on the MSc in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition and supervises doctoral students. Her research is mainly focused on second language reading.
Catherine was Chair of IATEFL from 1993 to 1995 and is the Chair of the English Language Advisory Group of the British Council. Her excellence in teaching and supporting of learning was recognised in 2008 with the award of a UK Higher Education Academy National Teaching Fellowship.
Catherine is the co-author with Michael Swan of the three-level Oxford English Grammar Course.
