  • All the language is used in context.

Tab 2

The Grammar Lab provides contextualized grammar. Each chapter starts with either a picture or a cartoon strip to present the target grammar. The target grammar appears in bold type.

The first exercise in each chapter gets students thinking about the grammar. 'Remember!' boxes either refer students to a chapter with a summary of the parts of speech and other basic points of grammar, or back to a chapter that covers a specific grammar point.

The grammar boxes in each chapter give a rule, followed by examples. The rule is addressed to the student, for example:

  • Can is to ask someone a question when you want to do something and you want the answer to be 'Yes'.
  • Can we go to the park?
  • Can my friend come to stay?

  • The 'Remember!' and grammar boxes are followed by exercises to consolidate the material learned in the grammar box.

Most exercises are written, and include drills, puzzles, crosswords, reading comprehensions, cloze tests, writing activities, and personalisation.

Answers to the exercises are provided in the accompanying Teacher's Books for each level.
