- Az Introduction to Matrix a Foundation kötetet készíti elő, ezáltal lehetővé téve, hogy a gimnáziumok 9. osztályában is elkezdhessék a sorozatot. A New Matrix elementary szintje nem teljesen kezdőknek készült, de minden alapvető ismeretet megtanít, ami a Foundation szint elkezdéséhez szükséges.
- Az intermediate és az upper-intermediate szintek a köteteket aktívan használó kollégák kritikai észrevételei alapján kerültek teljes átdolgozásra.
- Az anyag könnyebben kezelhető, de ugyanolyan igényes és elsősorban a gimnáziumok kihívást kereső csoportjainak javasoljuk.
- A tanárok igényeinek megfelelően a sorozat minden kötete kiegészült a korábbinál is alaposabb nyelvtani összefoglaló gyakorlatokkal, és a minden kötet valamennyi fejezetében megtalálhatjuk a korábban csak a sorozat alsóbb szintjeiben megjelenő Word focus szókincsfejlesztő leckéket.
- A nyelvtani tananyag elosztása nem változott, bár bizonyos nyelvtani jelenségek más sorrendben kerülnek feldolgozásra - ezzel is a könnyebb haladást segítve.
- Koncentráltabb a nyelvtani gyakorlás a unitokon belül: egy leckében jelenik meg a nyelvtan teljes egészében és nem válik két részre, mint eddig.
- A témák ugyan nem változtak, de az olvasmányok és a hanganyagok 60%-a kicserélődött (alapvetően a népszerűek maradtak).
- A szókincsfejlesztés még erősebb, hangsúlyos a lecke alapszókincsének tanítása több gyakorlási lehetőséggel.
- A pre-intermediate szint íráskészség fejlesztő feladatai átdolgozásra kerültek és a legfontosabb szövegtípusokra koncentrálnak. Az íráskészség alapvetően hangsúlyosabban van jelen az új kiadásban.
- A célnyelvi kultúrákat bemutató Culture focus szövegei az új kiadásban minden kötetben megjelennek, váltakozva a Pre-Intermediate kötetben népszerűvé vált Reading for pleasure leckék angol nyelvű irodalmi szemelvényeivel.
- Az új kiadásban az intermediate és az upper-intermediate kötetek is tartalmaznak Reading for pleasure szövegeket, mivel ezek hihetetlenül népszerűek voltak kollégáink visszajelzései szerint. A pre-intermediate szövegeket (melyek minden unitban szerepelnek) frissítettük.
- Minden népszerű extra megmaradt:
- A szótárszerű szójegyzék a tankönyvben (a Wordpower Dictionary alapján),
- A részletes nyelvtani magyarázatok a tankönyvben.
- A terjedelmesebbé vált munkafüzetekben az eddiginél jóval több gyakorlatot találunk, a Pre-Intermediate kötetben a középszintű, és az Intermediate kötetben az emelt szintű érettségi vizsgákra felkészítő intenzív leckékkel, és az Upper-Intermediate kötetben további vizsgakészség-fejlesztő feladatsorokkal.
- A tanári kézikönyvben extra fénymásolható feladatsorok vannak. A tanári weboldal megújul, több letölthető gyakorlattal minden szinthez.

New Matrix is now a five-level series with a new entry level: Matrix Introduction (lower elementary), and Matrix Foundation.
New Matrix still offers the same level of challenge to bring the best out in students
through thought-provoking and intelligent topics, authentic texts, and systematic exam training. Regular revision and recycling throughout the course is still a key feature of this new edition.
As well as a greater focus on vocabulary, grammar, and culture in the Student’s Book, there are also changes to the other components of the course.
The Teacher’s Book now includes revised teaching notes with more optional activity ideas, and culture and language notes. There is also an extended photocopiable section with communication activities, games, testing tasks, and reading texts.
The extensive Workbook now offers more practice and more exercises. The new exam training bank also has intensive exam practice in the Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, and Upper-Intermediate levels.
