Getting to grips with Grammar and learning through songs and games.
Getting to grips with Grammar
There are a number of unfortunate myths about grammar: it's boring, it's difficult, it's complicated...or even that it's a necessary (or unnecessary?) evil. I believe it doesn’t have to be any of these things. It can be engaging and confidence boosting for learners when they feel they have more tools to interact with English. In this session we’ll look at some practical and age appropriate ways to help young learners with grammar and set them up for success with Young Learner exams.
Learning through songs and games
We all know that the classroom most conducive to learning is one that considers the aptitude and development of its learners. We all want engaging and age-appropriate activities to try out in the classroom to keep things fresh. However, with the plethora of age-specific challenges we primary teachers need to deal with, we are especially susceptible to over-relying on tasks and materials, and keeping children "happy". In this session we’ll look at some practical ways to use songs and games whilst also taking a learning-centred approach with young learners.
