The advantage of the Oxford Test of English is that you can take it without completing a specific preparation course, as long as you are studying at the right level.

You can use the materials provided in our Get ready for the test hub to help you prepare for the test, alongside your course materials. These resources will also give you an understanding of the format of the Oxford Test of English and types of questions asked, so you know what to expect.

Results and certification

With the Oxford Test of English, your overall level of English is certified by the University of Oxford. The results are ready within 14 days. Sign in to your account to see your results and print out your certificate.

Organizations and institutions

Organizations and institutions are also able to independently verify the results.

How your certificate works

  • You are given a score for each module.
  • If you have taken all four modules you will get an overall score.
  • The overall score is the average of each module.

We are committed to making the Oxford Test of English accessible to as many test takers as possible. The test can be taken with a range of reasonable adjustments, depending on your needs. Please speak to your local Test Centre to understand the options available to you.

Please note that depending on the adjustment required you need to give up to three months' notice, so please get in touch with your Test Centre as soon as possible to discuss your options.

If your local Test Centre is not able to accommodate your request, they will pass it onto Oxford University Press who will help you find a suitable Test Centre.
