Important Guidelines for Digital Responses

One of the exciting aspects of the Read On! project is the opportunity it gives students (and teachers!) to creatively respond to the books they read.

Many students today choose to express themselves in digital format (videoclips, powerpoint, webpages). This is wonderful and very exciting -- but as a teacher you need to ensure that they are following a few basic guidelines in terms of copyright.

Please make sure that your students read and understand the document Copyright Rules for Digital Responses. This document also includes some basic recording and filming tips to improve the quality of digital response.

To make the process even more educational, introduce your students to the correct terminology used in Filmmaking, including the various roles (Director, Producer, etc.) and technical vocabulary (setting, prop, pan, etc.). Download this useful handout, Basic Film Terms, to get started.
